At Biologische Bloem, we are the proud fifth generation farming around Ooltgensplaat, on the beautiful island of Goeree Overflakkee. While our parents used to have a farm in the village, we have been living near our lands in the polder since 1991. In 2009, we started the transition to organic farming, first with arable farming and coarse vegetable crops. Since 2020, we have also focused on growing flower bulbs. Our choice for organic farming stems from the belief that it is better for the planet we live on. Respecting the natural ecosystem, reducing environmental impact, and improving soil health were important reasons for us to make the switch to organic. In 2009, we started with organic arable farming, and since then, we have expanded our range to a diverse selection of organic flower bulbs. Every year, our commitment to sustainability is confirmed by the inspections of the SKAL certification. We grow a wide assortment of flower bulbs, including spring bloomers like daffodils in various varieties, allium, muscari, and botanical tulips. As summer bloomers, we grow gladioli in different colors such as red, pink, purple, yellow, dark red, and orange. In addition to flower bulbs, we also grow seed potatoes, celeriac, parsnips, and onions. Our family business is led by Anthon and Leonie Bom, who work passionately and dedicatedly every day to produce the most beautiful organic flower bulbs and crops.
